Update on dog rules

As outlined in recent email communications, a temporary suspension of off-lead dog has come into effect today as part of an effort to reset expectations around the dog community within the Formosa Garden. The Board of Formosa Amenity Limited confirmed, at a duly convened meeting, that it has formally approved additions and amendments to the Garden Rules relating to dogs and enforcement for the protection and proper shared use of the Garden by all residents.


From dawn on Monday 30 March 2026 until dawn on Monday 13 April 2026 inclusive, all dogs must be kept on lead at all times in the Garden. From dawn on Monday 13 April 2026, off-lead access will resume from daybreak until 10.00am, subject always to strict compliance with the Garden Rules as amended


Additions and amendments have been made pursuant to paragraph 13 of the Fifth Schedule to the Rentcharge Deed and Transfer dated 8 December 1981. The approved amendments have now been entered in the book maintained by Formosa Amenity Limited for that purpose. In accordance with paragraph 13, this communication constitutes notice to Freehold Owners of those additions and amendments, and website publication is only for ease of reference.


These measures have been adopted following repeated complaints, reports and incidents raised over time throughout our communication channels, concerning non-compliance with the dog rules. The purpose of these is to preserve off-lead access for compliant dog owners on a basis that is safe, orderly and sustainable, and compatible with the rights and enjoyment of all who use the Garden. 

The Board would like to thank residents for the thoughtful and strongly held views expressed over the weekend. This is a topic on which people care deeply and it is appreciated that there are differing perspectives and hopes that, with everyone's co-operation, the community can move forward constructively, respectfully and harmoniously.
