A Jolly Evening, Wine Not?

Wine lovers gathered last Saturday evening for a thoroughly delicious few hours of tasting, chatting, and rather a lot of happy sipping. The weather played beautifully to our favour too, with glorious sunshine making it the perfect occasion for an evening outdoors. The Winery brought a beautifully judged selection, and it's fair to say nobody left disappointed.

The tasting opened, as any good tasting should, with a glass of Champagne — always a fine way to get things started. From there, the whites took centre stage: a fragrant Albariño and a crisp Riesling, both perfectly suited to easy conversation as the evening got underway. An organic Rosé followed, before the tasting rounded off with two excellent reds to finish on a warmer, richer note.

No wine tasting is complete without something to nibble alongside it, and Saturday's spread didn't disappoint. With help from our local supporters, baguettes and crackers were kindly donated by Gail's Clifton Road, while Clifton Greens provided a generous helping of grapes, Planetis contributed a lovely selection of crackers, and a bowl of pears fresh from the garden rounded things off nicely — together making for the perfect accompaniment to each glass.

It all added up to a relaxed, sociable evening — proof once again that good wine, good company, and good weather make for a very happy combination. A big thank you to The Winery for guiding us through the tasting, and to all our generous local contributors who helped make the day such a treat.
