After a three-year hiatus caused by COVID the Formosa Garden threw open its gate(s) to visitors on June 12 as part of the London Square Open Gardens Weekend. Lauren from Westbourne Management heroically gave up her Sunday afternoon to man the Castellain Road entrance as more than 50 members of the public filtered through to admire our garden, being shown off to its best advantage thanks to the tireless work of Jan & his team from Gravitas.
Our garden chair kindly ensured visitors left with a printed history of the garden and information about the upcoming Shakespeare theatre tour across multiple London gardens including our own.

Word was that the Queen had to make do with watching it on TV at Windsor but for the second year running our wine-tasting in the Garden was a great success, with an impressive turn-out despite the generally overcast weather & the fact that it was the Whitsun half-term.
The Winery on Clifton Parade once more did us proud with selection of no fewer than six wines (sparkling, red, white & rose) complemented by soft drinks, baguette & a nice selection of cheeses – not to mention music from the Suzanne Noble Jazz Quartet.
Here’s raising a glass to next year!

..if so you should have received a letter from Thames Water offering a free survey of your property to check what they call “sewer flooding resistance”. The letter was dated 24th May & states that they need to hear back from you within the month or else they will remove you from their list (based presumably on the online form they asked affected households to fill in at www.thameswater.co.uk/registersewer). They go on to stress that the offer of the survey & any subsequent installation of flood protection does not imply that Thames Water are accepting liability for damage cause by any previous flooding at your property.
For more information you can go to www.thameswater.co.uk/sewersurvey or call their customer helpline on 0800 316 9800.
